LLC Design Challenges

LLC Electronics Design Challenges

In addition to Performance, Power and Area (cost) that the SLC product designers contend with in doing designs, the LLC product designers have to deal with Reliability (what is the Mean-Time-Between Failure?), Supply Chain Management (minimum number of years the product has to be working in the field), and the Specification/Functionality Evolvability (how much more functionality need to be added to the first version before the product is End-Of-Lifed.). These are huge challenges faced by LLC product designers.

Enhanced Reliability

Requires extended lifetime and extreme operating conditions.  Most semiconductor parts are designed for SLC products.

Supply Chain Management

Requires parts during long production lifecycle in the face of vendor churns and part obsolescence

Specification/Functionality Evolvability

Requires upfront design consideration to allow for future feature and performance enhancements and ease of serviceability
